Yes, I know, you don't have to remind me. Some of these references are dated. I've been saving them for just the right moment. All emphases are added unless otherwise noted . . . Reviews follow.

I'll Bet You're Wondering What I Think about the Iran Treaty . . . Glad You Asked!

Excerpts from Norfolk Daily News (7/24/15):  "Kerry defends deal with Iran. Iran will have nuclear 'green light' if Congress rejects deal, Kerry says . . . 'You've been fleeced. You've turned Iran from being a pariah to now Congress being a pariah.' Sen. Bob Corker, Tennessee Republican . . . 'I don't think the American people want another war . . . That's really the other option, which everyone tiptoes around. ' Sen. Barbara Boxer, California Democrat . . . 'With all due respect, you guys have been bamboozled & the American people . . . have to pay for it.' Sen. James Risch, Idaho Republican." [If I didn't suspect any differently, I'd almost think this sounds like a partisan issue, not a reasonable debate.]

Also from NDN (7/30/15):  "Witless or Not? Has Obama intended harm or just blinded by ideology?" Column by Mona Charen. "A question has hung in the air since Barack Obama first moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. & began his 'fundamental transformation' of this country: Did he intend harm, or was he merely so blinded by ideology that he could not see the damage his policies were creating? The Iran deal provides an answer.
"At his press conference, our duplicitous leader chose to call black white & claim that the deal does the opposite of what it does--allow Iran to get nuclear weapons, albeit after a decent interval. We are deep into Orwellian territory now. 'War is peace. Ignorance is strength.' Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is crowing that Iran achieved all of its objectives & the U.S. none . . .
"Now, the inspections regime is a joke: Iran gets 24 days' notice & sits on the committee that decides whether inspections are necessary. The sanctions are lifted immediately handing the world's chief sponsor of terror a $100 billion windfall . . . In 12-15 years, Iran will be an immensely wealthier, better-armed & more powerful country than it is today . . . The dishonest core of the president's pretense is this:  that the choice was between war & diplomacy. Every schoolchild knows that diplomacy without the credible threat of force is a nullity. Obama knows how to frighten & intimidate when he wants to. See his conduct toward the Republicans or Netanyahu or the Supreme Court."

Also from NDN (8/3):  "A Catastrophe." Column by Thomas Sowell. "Distinguished scientist Freeman Dyson called the 1433 decision of the emperor of China to discontinue his country's exploration of the outside world the 'worst political blunder in the history of civilization.' The United States seems at this moment about to break the record for the worst political blunder of all time, with its Obama administration deal that will make a nuclear Iran virtually inevitable."

Also from NDN (8/8):  "President suffers setback in Iran deal. President Barack Obama suffered a notable setback in his all-out campaign to secure Democratic support for the Iran nuclear deal when the leading Jewish Democrat in the Senate announced his opposition. the question is how significant the blow will turn out to be." [Personally, I HOPE it's significant! I'm just sayin'.]

Excerpts from Omaha World Herald (7/19/15):  "2016 Presidential Election--Historic mistake or diplomatic victory? Predictably, the 2016 presidential field is split pretty much along party lines when it comes to the Iranian nuclear agreement announced last week . . . 'It can help us prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon . . . this agreement can make the U.S., Israel & our Arab partners safer.' Hillary Clinton, Democrat . . . 'Iran has demonstrated bad behavior for 30 years. We know they have been trying to cheat on this deal. We know they have been funding proxies with the strategic objective of destabilizing the region.' Carly Fiorina, Republican . . . [I'm starting to think she might be a good VP choice.] 'I salute @POTUS Obama & Kerry in this historical breakthrough. #Cuba & now #Cuba, both good. -L #chafee2016' Lincoln Chafee, Democrat. . . [Seriously, I copied this word-for-word] . . . 'I believe that this deal undermines security . . . (Obama) has consistently negotiated from a position of weakness, giving concession after concession to a regime that has American blood on its hands . . . ' Marco Rubio, Republican . . . 'This is a victory for diplomacy over saber-rattling & could keep the United States from being drawn into another never-ending war in the Middle East.' Bernie Sanders, Democrat . . . 'The nuclear agreement announced by the Obama administration today is a dangerous, deeply flawed & short-sighted deal . . . in fact, over time, it paves Iran's path to a bomb.' Jeb Bush, Republican . . . 'I would be very skeptical (about the deal) if I were still in the Senate. I am concerned principally that this might actually increase the imbalance of power in the region.' Jim Webb, Democrat. [Democrat? Wait . . . what?!]

Also from OWH (7/21/15):  "Iran deal is worse than first feared." Column by Charles Krauthammer. "When you write a column, as did I two weeks ago, headlined 'The worst agreement in U.S. diplomatic history,' you don't expect to revisit the issue. We had hit bottom. Or so I thought. Then on Tuesday, the final terms of the Iranian nuclear deal were published. I was wrong. Who would have imagined we would be giving up the conventional arms & ballistic missile embargoes on Iran? In nuclear negotiations? [Emphasis in original.]

Also from OWH 7/24/15):  "Obama's Iran deal fraught with peril." Column by Cal Thomas. "At his July 15 press conference, our president of self-regard again linked himself with Ronald Reagan, seeking to equate his supposed success in gaining a deal w/Iran not to build a nuclear weapon for 10 years to Reagan's arms control negotiations w/the Soviet Union.
"There is at least one major difference, which causes Obama's analogy to collapse. Reagan regarded the Soviet Union as an 'evil empire' & vowed to defeat it. He said not just the Soviet Union but communism itself would wind up 'on the ash heap of history.'
"Obama hears, sees & speaks no evil against the evil empire of Iran, or the vile terrorist groups it supports across the region. Instead he seeks accommodation, not elimination of this modern scourge."

Also from OWH (7/26/15):  "Clock's ticking--time to get story straight. Obama, Kerry have work to do after coming under fire for misstatements on Tehran pact." [You had me at "misstatements."]

Also from OWH (7/29):  "House gets crack at Iran deal . . . 'I have trepidation. Barely a week after the Iranians signed the deal with us, there was the supreme leader, the ayatollah, chanting Death to America, Death to Israel,' said new York Rep. Eliot Engel, the senior Democrat on the Foreign Affairs Committee. 'How can we trust Iran when this type of thing happens?'" [Emphasis added, sometimes in symbolic color. Get it?]

Also from OWH (8/5):  "Nuclear deal looks great for Iran." Column by Michael Gerson. " . . . The Iran nuclear agreement may be defended as the best a tired nation can do. But members of Congress should vote with open eyes. This agreement will fund Iranian imperialism--while creating disincentives for America to confront it. The Iranians signed the agreement because it was a great deal--for them."
