IRAN:  From Omaha World Herald (3/8):  "For removing headscarf, Iranian heads to prison. A woman who removed her Islamic headscarf in public has been sentenced to 24 months in prison. Iran's semi-official news agency on WED quoted a prosecutor as saying the woman took off her headscarf on a Tehran street to 'encourage corruption through the removal of the hijab in public' . . . "  COMMENT: Before you get too cocky, men, you should know about the sharp penalties for wearing your ball cap backwards.

CANADA:  OWH (3/9):  "Canadian doctors demand lower salaries. In a move that can only be described as utterly Canadian, hundreds of doctors in Quebec are protesting their pay raises, saying they already make too much money."  COMMENT:  This news has inspired members of the U.S. Congress to . . . never mind.

FRANCE:  OWH (3/9):  "France to introduce fines for catcalls. French Interior Minister Gerard Collumb says the government will soon introduce a $110 fine for street harassment & sexist comments."  COMMENT:  A spokesperson for French cats told this blog's international news agency "Zees ees intolerable. The word "catcall" ees insulting to French cats. Eet ees stereotyping at eet's worse."
