A Reunion? A Soiree? No! A Bash!
Two summers ago the Hill family had a family reunion in the Twin Cities. Last summer we enjoyed our first ever Hill Couples Reunion in St. Petersburg, FL. What are we looking forward to in the Summer of 2018--& by "we" I mean the sisters? That's right . . . It's time for another Sister Bash. [I think the last Sister Bash was in St. Petersburg 3 summers ago. I can neither confirm nor deny that some of the participants suffered PTSD from an alligator sighting.]
The locale of this year's soiree is David & Carmen's Chalet, located on picturesque Little Island Lake near Nevis, MN. Never heard of Nevis? It's also close to Park Rapids. Never heard of Park Rapids? I can only do so much with the readership talent pool.
This Sister Bash site "breaks the mold." [Actually, a lot of unkempt summer homes, fishing docks, etc., exhibit plenty of mold.] It's a good 3-4 hour drive from the Twin Cities & perhaps doesn't boast the cultural & culinary & consumer attractions that the sisters [technically, 4 sisters & 1 or 2 sisters-in-law] prefer.
David & Carmen's Chalet, located on the gravel road that encircles Little Island Lake, makes up for its lack of urban accouterments with an abundance of Far North charm, hospitality, & laid-back features.
This is not to say that urban adventures are lacking. Here's what the 2018 Minnesota Travel Guide has to say about Park Rapids, which is located a mere 20-minute drive from the Chalet. "This town's classic Main Street bustles with up-north boutiques selling everything from cozy flannel pajamas & moose-themed decor to cribbage boards shaped like local lakes. Anyone craving their own 'man cave' shouldn't miss Toys for Boys on Hwy 34 west of town. It's loaded with 1950s & '60s collectibles (think Betty Boop & Elvis, jukeboxes, pedal cards & vintage garage signs." [I can neither confirm nor deny that some of the sisters might relate more to "vintage" accouterments than others.]
Will there be "shop until you drop" opportunities? Obviously, shopping opportunities can be checked off the list of queries.
