MOTHER'S DAY
Lois & I went out for Mother's Day on FRI night. We ate at 411 in Downtown Norfolk, which, coincidentally, is located at 411 Norfolk Ave. Thanks to a gift card from one of our favorite daughters, we enjoyed a delicious supper. Yesterday Bentley went to Sunday School & church with us, so he chose McDonald's for lunch. That's right. I'm a big spender when it comes to Mother's Day.

Thoughtful Mother's Day Gifts You Can Get at the Gas Station on the Way Home from Church *
*Also, compliments of Babylon Bee
> $10s worth of lotto scratchers. Nothing says "I love you" like a chance at being a millionaire.
> For the big spender, get a gallon of gas.
> A bottle of windshield washer fluid. Every time mom cleans a bug's splattered guts off her windshield, she'll remember your thoughtfulness.
> A hot dog/fountain soda combo. Both a hot dog AND a soda? Boy, do you love this woman, or what!
> A pair of nice sneakers a nice man in the parking lot is selling out of his trunk.
HIP HIP . . . HOORAY?
I may be looking for pity, but it's my blog. After several months of increasing discomfort, I finally went to orthopedics & found out what I suspected. I need a hip replacement. My left hip was replaced in 2016. This time, obviously, it's my right hip. Surgery is scheduled for July. I'll keep you posted.
WHAT WE'RE WATCHING
We are binge-watching Downton Abbey, since we just received a notice that it will no longer be available after 5/31. We've just started Season 6, apparently the last season.
ROAD TRIPS
Tonight we're traveling to Lincoln to take in our grand-daughter Hadley's music concert at Lincoln Lutheran. On THU we head to Concordia, MO. Lois' St. Paul's High School Class of '72 is having its 50th class reunion. [My 50-year reunion was last year.] On SAT we leave Concordia early & drive back to Nebraska. Our grand-daughter Brianna is graduating from Raymond Central High School. Then I don't think we're doing any more road trips this month.
THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE TEXAS
"TX man allegedly burglarizes home, mows the victim's yard then escapes police in a foot chase." Fox News Online, 5/8. I had to double-check to make sure it was TX & not FL.
PROTESTS
"Mother's Day protests by pro-abortion activists reveal their 'utter brokenness,' say faith leaders." Fox News Online, 5/8 And that's all I'm going to post about abortion today.
