PRAYER BREAKFAST

I attended the Norfolk Area Prayer Breakfast this morning. It's been a couple of years since it's been held. It was shut down for awhile because of COVID. It's wonderful to share prayers & fellowship with so many brothers & sisters in Norfolk. It's wonderful to live in a community where Christ's presence is obvious & celebrated. And it's wonderful to live in a nation where we are free to hold & attend these events without fear of reprisals.

We said the Pledge of Allegiance. There was music by members of the praise band from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Prayers were said for first responders, the nation, Norfolk social services, businesses, youth & education. The speaker, Mark Whitacre, delivered a strong, personal testimony. He "is considered the highest-ranked executive of any Fortune 500 company to become a whistleblower in U.S. history, & was responsible for uncovering the ADM price-fixing scandal in the early 1990s. He wore a wire for 3 years for the FBI in the early 1990s" & spent 8 1/2 years in federal prison. It was while he was in prison that he came to know Jesus. Very influential!

SCOTUS

So, a draft report by the Supreme Court has been leaked, & it seems to signal that the Court will overturn Roe v. Wade. I've been praying for this to happen. Many, many people have been praying for this to happen. Predictably, pro-abortion people, including our president, are outraged & committed to enshrining abortion rights, regardless of what the Supreme Court rules. I will probably comment more about this tomorrow, but I think there are several important points to consider today.

1. Abortion involves killing babies. The biology is clear that human life begins at conception. 

2. Overturning Roe v. Wade will not put an end to abortion. It will merely return the decision to states, which should have happened all along.

3. Pro-life people, pregnancy crisis clinics, & organizations such as Lutherans for Life & Birthright will continue to face turmoil is reaching out to women who find themselves in crisis pregnancies.

4. We need to continue to pray that those who perform & profit from abortions, & especially Planned Parenthood, be defeated; that those who support Planned Parenthood will be led to perceive that this is an organization with evil motives.

5. Finally, who leaked this report? This action is nearly unprecedented in the history of the Supreme Court. There is speculation that the report was leaked by one of the progressive judges or his/her staff members, in order to spur calls for court-stacking.
