A MORNING PRAYER *

* My Prayer Book

"O God, I pray You also, bless & proper the members of my faith & my friends. Give us a government which rules for the welfare of all. Protect our country, our churches, our homes, our schools, that we may work quietly & enjoy Your blessings in peace. Help us all to remember that our needs will be supplied as long as we rely on You & on Your bountiful mercy. For all things make me thankful; in the name of Jesus. Amen."

HIS STORY

"The false notion that the Christian life is one without fear or pain, merely a Good Friday show, is another heresy. No sacrifice, no effort to use our talents to transform this world. A prosperity gospel that eliminates the human unpredictability or deep fear that was present during Jesus' blood-filled via Dolorosa. We witness this phenomenon in (so-called) Christian movies where human choice is stepped through like paint by number footprints, which lead to an altar call ending. Not the passion on the cross, or the profound betrayal Jesus felt on that lonely eve.

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

We got caught up on all our CBS shows, including The Equalizer, starring Queen Latifah, which we just started, so what did we do? We started another CBS show. That' right. We started watching The Guardian, starring Simon Baker. [The Mentalist, just to jog your memory.] There are 3 seasons to catch up on, so now we're watching NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, FBI, FBI Most Wanted, Seal Team, Blue Bloods, The Equalizer, & The Guardian. Yes, our pathetic social life revolves around TV. ADDENDUM: I think we're going to stop watching The Guardian. The pre-occupation with sex-driven episodes is unsettling.
