Surreptitious Saturday
You won't find this on any other blog.
From Norfolk Daily News (11/30): "Arctic snowy owls visit Yankton Dam. Snowy owls have made a temporary home in the area surrounding a dam along the South Dakota-Nebraska border, marking a rare sighting for many residents. Yankton resident & avid birdwatcher Roger Dietrich said 2 snow owls were spotted near the Gavins Point Dam. 'Its very unusual for snowy owls to be down here,' Dietrich said. 'They're from the Arctic tundra. It must be an unusually big production year for lemmings. Snowy owls have a high rate of nesting success when there are more lemmings, which are small rodents, in the Arctic. A robust food source enables more owlets to survive & learn to fly more quickly . . . '"W.D.T.M.? *
The appearance of this Arctic birds just 50 miles or so north of Norfolk, NE, does NOT signal another bit of damning ** global climate change evidence. ** What DOES it signal?* Any good lutheran would know that this stands for "What does this mean?"
** Sorry. I try my best to keep my blog family-friendly. I don't know what got into me today.
Obviously it is a clear indication that Scott Frost will be the new Cornhusker FB coach.
For those of you who are NOT conversant with all the Cornhusker FB drama over the past couple months, sorry, but I just don't have the time or emotional energy to recap everything. You'll have to do your own Google searching.
Let's just say that:
- Scott Frost is a native Nebraskan from Wood River, NE.
- He helped the Cornhuskers win a national championship back in the day.
- He has coached successfully at the national level, first as an offensive coordinator & most recently as a head coach at the University of Central FL.
- When he came to UCF last year, he took a team that had lost every game in 2015 & helped coach them into a .500 record in 2016.
- This year his UCF "Snowy Owls" are undefeated, heading into their conference championship game today.
- A win today, & possibly even a loss, would gain UCF a bowl berth.
- Nebraska finished their season 4-8. We gave up over 50 pts in each of our last 3 games. We got clocked by Iowa in the last game of the season, scoring only 14 pts & not scoring at all during the 2nd half. Iowa, for Pete's sake!
- No bowl birth for us.
- Mike Riley, our former head coach, was fired last SUN. We need a new head coach.
Where was I? Oh, yeah . . . Sometimes I figure things out that nobody else figures out.
Arctic snowy owls nesting along the SD & NE border is CLEARLY a sign that Scott Frost will be offered & will accept the position of the Huskers' head coach. Why am I so sure? Simple, really.
"Frost" . . . "Snowy" . . . YOU figure out. I already did.
