Frost Is Coming
I hate to brag [No, he doesn't. CBLCC * ], but I called it, didn't I? Like I said, I often figure things out that nobody else figures out. In any case, I'm assuming that many [most? all?] of my faithful blog followers would love some in-depth news & commentary re: the Frost Saga. Rather than having to Google "Scott Frost Nebraska" & sift through a plethora of information, I have decided to spare you that ordeal & provide a succinct summary of the mostly likely several gigabytes of information you would encounter. Here's my summary.- Scott Frost is the new Husker coach.
- Many [most? all?] Husker fans are happy & sleeping better. You're welcome.

Conversations w/My Grandkids
I try to establish traditions w/my grandkids, you know, the kind of traditions we remember & savor from our own experiences w/our grand-parents. Bentley, age 4, & I have established a tradition when I drive him to & fro his daycare provider. Our conversation today is indicative. Here goes.BENTLEY: I see 'Merican' flags!
ME: Let's count them.
TOGETHER: One, two, three . . . thirteen.
ME: Do you think we got them all?
BENTLEY: We got them all. There are a lot of 'Merican flags in Norfolk.

- Just a few days ago I slipped a cash gift into the Salvation Army bell-ringer's kettle in front of Hy-Vee West. He responded with "Happy Holidays." I immediately followed with "Merry Christmas." He immediately replied, "Merry Christmas.
- Today (MON 12/4) the checker @ Hy-Vee West wished me "Happy Holidays." I was slow on the trigger & uttered a feeble, "You, too."
- That was my bad. It's flippin' Christmas for goodness sake! It's a national holiday, for Pete's sake!
- However, I will say that I understand that these people are just following somebody's orders--misguided as those somebodies might be. I will also say that when I remember to reply, "Merry Christmas," I invariably receive a heart-felt "Merry Christmas" in return.

Road Trip
I am leaving for Garrison, IA, tomorrow (TUE 12/5), on my way to visit Mark, my little brother, & Christy, his long-suffering wife. I'm returning on SAT 12/9, so don't despair. I am taking along my laptop & hope to post at least one blog entry from our Iowanian neighbors. There Is No Place Like Nebraska
- Here's one more "for the road." When I got up this morning, the temperature was 44. Before the end of the morning the mercury began plummeting & we were on the receiving end of 50+ m.p.h. wind gusts.
- It's 9:01 p.m. (CST). According to accuweather.com, the air temperature is 25 degrees. The wind chill puts us at 5 degrees. Tonight's temperature is expected to drop to 22 w/a wind chill @ -3.
- We are in a wind advisory until midnight.
- I am grateful that it looks like I'll have dry driving conditions on my trip east.
