Another non-partisan devotional...I hope...

walking in the truth

My devotional thoughts

I'm typing these thoughts on FRI 11/11, just a few days after the 2016 presidential election results became known. Many woke up on Wednesday morning feeling despondent. I felt like responding with another attempt at a non-partisan devotional, but I'm turning things over to the "professionals." My source is listed below.

Today's Truth from Scripture

"I will praise You among all the people; I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who worship You. The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the Lord will praise Him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy. The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to Him. People from every nation will bow down before Him. For the Lord is king! He rules all the nations."  Psalm 22:25-28

Today's devotional thoughts *

"Presidents & rulers often hold the reigns of power for years. But inevitably they lose their power & pass from the scene. After a few generations, they may even be forgotten by most people. Yet there is one King who will never pass away. He will rule all the nations forever & ever. The whole earth will acknowledge His reign & bow before Him, saying, 'For the Lord is king! He rules all the nations.' Earthly rulers rise & fall, but our Lord, the King of all nations, reigns forever. Bow before the King of kings. Worship His holy name."

My prayer thoughts for today

  • That healing can take place in our country, especially after all the harsh rhetoric of the recently completed election cycle.
  • That our elected leaders would be influenced by godly men & women who seek after the approval of God & not humankind.
  • That God's people would strive to be the light of the world & the salt of the earth that God intended us to be.

Missionary News *

* A few revisions have been made.

Pastor Stuart & Debra Freese are the two missionaries that Lois & I have adopted. They are preparing to serve in West Africa; it looks like they are on track to begin their mission & ministry over there soon after the 1st of the year. They are spending their time now getting ready for this assignment, which includes traveling to spread the word about the mission work in Africa & raising support with the help of Gary Thies. Some of you know Gary from his work via Mission Central. [http://missioncentral.us/missioncentral/welcome] I have Stu & Deb's permission to share the following information with you.
