Notes

  • I realize that I already posted my Whimsical WED blog today, but in light of what will go down in history as the Groundhog Day Blizzard of 2016, how could I keep from posting a Temp, nay, a Weather Challenge this morning?!
  • The 14" snowfall total comes from our local US 92 radio station web site, "Nebraska's Most Reliable Weather."
  • This rivals & perhaps surpasses the Christmas blizzard of 2009. That's the year that Lois & I flew out of Omaha just ahead of the snow, so technically we didn't experience the full effect of that snow event. Instead we enjoyed the December weather of the Florida panhandle [high's in the 60's, which we found comfortable, but native Floridians did not.]
  • Our previous, personal snow event record was the Great Chicago Blizzard of 1978, when we received, if Lois' memory serves us correctly, 21" of snow. School was cancelled for a full week & our poor, little Chevette lay buried in the snow for 3 weeks.
  • Lois got a snow day yesterday + a 2nd snow day today. Since she has no school tomorrow, due to parent conferences, & no school on FRI 2/5, due to a half-day inservice, she doesn't return to her classroom duties until MON 2/8 [her birthday]. *
* If you're struggling w/ideas for a gift, best idea would be to send a check made out to "cash." That way I can use the aggregate amount to get her something special from all of you.
