Tuesday of Holy Week

Today's Scripture

The Lord is my rock, my fortress & my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield & the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, & I am saved from my enemies. (Psalm 18:1-3)

Saved from Our Enemies

As we continue experiencing the pestilence of the coronavirus, it is easy to succumb to worry. There is much uncertainty. We are receiving a plethora of information & advice, & we don't always know whom to trust. People are becoming infected & ill; some have died. We are living in self-quarantine. Jobs have been lost. Schools have been cancelled. Special events have been cancelled or postponed. Trips have also been cancelled or postponed.

The psalmist knows without doubt that God is our rock, our fortress, our deliverer. In the midst of this plague, we can take refuge in Him. He will never test us beyond our ability. He works all things for the good of those who love Him.

It's easy to see the coronavirus as our worst enemy, but this is not true. Daily we face our worst enemies:  the devil, the world, & our own sinful nature. He will not only provide for us during this pandemic; He will save us from these far deadlier enemies. This week we celebrate His ultimate sacrifice to save us from our true enemies.

Today's Prayer

Thank You, Jesus, for You are our fortress & deliverer. Save us from the devil, the world, & our own sinful nature. Deliver us from the coronavirus plague. Amen.

Note:  During Holy Week I'm publishing devotions instead of my usual topics, like politics, climate change, & the coronavirus.
