Monday of Holy Week

MONDAY 4/6 Today's Scripture

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason, Christ is the Mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. (Hebrews 9:14-15)

A Mediator

Jesus is our Mediator. According to dictionary.com, to "mediate" means "to settle as as an intermediary between parties; to reconcile." "Reconcile" means to reconsecrate." Because of our sin, reconciliation between God & us was necessary. Humanly, this was impossible.

So Jesus became an intermediary between His Father & us. He did this by shedding His blood on Calvary. We commemorate His great sacrifice on Good Friday. And we give thanks that through His sacrifice we are considered unblemished by God. Our consciences are cleansed, which can only happen through the Holy Spirit. We receive a "promised eternal inheritance." Heaven is our home.

On this Monday of Holy Week, let us contemplate the great undeserved gift of Jesus Christ's mediation on our behalf. Thanks be to God!

Today's Prayer

Thank You, Jesus, for being our Mediator. Amen.

NOTE:  This week I'm declaring a moratorium on my usual blogs:  no politics, no climate change, no coronavirus. My prayer is that my devotions would glorify Christ & edify those who read them.
