Temperatures + Joke-Stealing + Resolutions

Happy New Year! And what better way to start the New Year than with a . . .

Leckband Temp Challenge *

* I should have done a temp challenge @ 9:00p last night, when the wind chill in Norfolk was -30.

Rankings based on wunderground.com @ 8:02 a.m.

#6, Balmiest Leckbands, Garrison, IA, 18/wind chill 5
#5, Ventura, IA, 3/3
#4, Beatrice, NE, 6/-6
#3, Eagan, MN, -2/-2
#2, Norfolk, NE, -4/-4
#1, Lincoln, NE, 4/-9

NOTE:  Average the two temperatures together, & you'll discover the super-secret algorithm put into play by my crack team of temp advisors.

New Year's Resolutions

I hesitate to make New Year's resolutions for the same reason that I resist giving something up for Lent. I have serious doubts about my resolve. Also, the resolutions that I THINK I should make often involve giving up something that I truly love. Here goes anyway.

  • I resolve not to read any partisan diatribes re:  the 2020 elections. [That includes partisans on "both sides of the aisle."]
  • I resolve to add to our list of National Park visits & cross something off our bucket list. [We plan to visit Teddy Roosevelt & Glacier National Parks.]
  • I resolve to lose 10 lbs in 2019. [I decided to make this my resolution instead of giving up french fries this year. Also, I need to lose more, but hope that 10 lbs is doable.]
  • I resolve to treat Sammy, our dog, with more patience in 2019. [This could prove to be the most difficult resolution to keep.]
  • I resolve to help put out all of our Christmas decorations next holiday season. [This year we only managed to set up our Christmas tree.]
  • I resolve to work out at least 3X per week. [I'll continue doing my cardiac maintenance workouts & hopefully work out more than 3X a week. 3X seems doable.]
  • I resolve to continue spending an hour or so in "quiet time" each day. [Includes scripture, devotional readings, prayer]
