Children's Health + Pole Dancer + Shameless Joke-Stealing

Whimsy

Omaha World Herald (8/25):  "Simply letting children play is just what the doctor orded. Imagine a drug that could enhance a child's creativity, critical thinking & resilience. Imagine that this drug was simple to make, safe to take, & could be had for free.
"The nation's leading pediatricians say this miracle compound exists. In a new clinical report, they are urging doctors to prescribe it liberally to the children in their care.
"What is this wonder drug? Play."  AND THIS DOES NOT MEAN PLAYING ON AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE.

Criminal Minds

Omaha World Herald (9/4):  "Chinese school welcomes kids with pole dancer. A Chinese kindergarten principal has apologized after allowing a pole dancer to perform on the school's opening day."  THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE CHINA.

Dept. of Shameless Joke-Stealing *

  • "They call the Kentucky Derby the fastest two minutes in sports. But they haVen't seen me start, then quit, a 5K."
  • "I bet on a great horse yesterday. It took 7 horses to beat him."

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:  DAILY BREAD

“Daily bread is our simple prayer. What if His answer to this prayer is His body in bread, His blood in wine? What if the feast consists of a bite-sized wafer & a sip of wine? His words of promise hang in the air: ‘Take, eat This is the body of Christ given for you.’ ‘Take. Drink. The blood of Christ shed for You.’
“It’s not the answer we were expecting, but even so:  It comes from the One who taught His disciples not to worry about eating & drinking & getting dressed, but to seek first the Kingdom, trusting that God will provide what He knows we need.
“It comes, moreover, from the One who destroys death by dying. Who comforts us in our graves by His empty tomb. It comes from the One who promises His presence when He leaves. From the righteous Judge who calls sinners ‘saints.’

“Our daily bread is not what we were expecting. At all. It’s more . . . We pray for daily bread, & He gives us something far better. We receive God Himself in His Son. And through this gift, we receive from our gracious heavenly Father all we need for this body & life.”
