Scents + Countdown + Waffles & Bears + Wrinkles + Much More

Wednesday's Whimsy

Omaha World Herald (5/21):  "93-year-old ends golfing career with 1st hole-in-one." COMMENT:  Fortunately I've already made a hole-in-one. That would be playing miniature golf. [Do I detect snickers? Not appropriate!]

OWH (5/26):  "Play-Doh's scent, from childhoods across America, is trademarked. Hasbro became the latest company inducted into the small club of brands with a scent registered by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. As of FRI, the Play-Doh scent trademark is one of 13 active registrations, according to a spokesman from the office, joining the ranks of a strawberry-scented toothbrush & ukuleles that come with a whiff of pina colada.  COMMENT:  Has Cuming County, Nebraska, considered applying for a trademark for the awesome scent of its feedlots? Inquiring minds want to know.

OWH (6/11):  "Forget honey:  Black bear lured safely by waffles. A black bear taking a stroll through a busy urban section of (Fort Myers, FL) was lured to safety by a breakfast staple:  waffles."  COMMENT:  There is no place like . . . Florida!

Countdown Continues

According to my calculations, 31 days remain until the kickoff of the Summer 2018 Hill Sister Bash at David & Carmen's chalet on picturesque Little Island Lake, near Nevis, MN. A friendly reminder to the Sisters & camp followers:  certain topics are best avoided, including--but not limited to--(1) politics; (2) climate change; (3) politics.

Thought for Today:  The Golden Rule

"So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." Matt. 7:12

"We are not to be someone's punching bag, yet we need to listen as Jesus calls us to an impossible life--not to retaliate but to respond with love, even to our enemies. Impossible, unless He is living through us, empowering us to obey.  Portals of Prayer (6/13), Concordia Publishing House, 2018.

Today's Health Advisory

Reader's Digest (5/2018):  "Beware These 4 Surprising Wrinkle Risks.

  1. Contact lenses
  2. Lack of sleep
  3. Air pollution
  4. Your phone"
COMMENT:  Air pollution in & around Little Island Lake is negligible. Minimal use of cell phones at Sister Bash is strongly advised.

Political Potpourri

Yes, I know I've mentioned more than once my intention to minimize my political pondering. However, recent events force the following opinion.
When BO announced his vaunted "treaty" w/Tehran, Democrats were effusive with praise for his historic accomplishment. Hindsight has revealed that this agreement was never signed by Iran, provided them with billions of dollars to finance their nuclear ambitions & subsidies for terrorism, & accomplished little or nothing on behalf of peace for our country. Republicans would do well to remember this in the face of DT's "historic" accomplishment re:  North Korea, whose regime has proven anything but trustworthy over the year's.
Our presidents should concern themselves less re:  their legacies & more re:  the true security of our country.
