Countdown Milestone
According to my chronological resources, the Hill Sister 2018 Summer Bash begins in 100 days.A Plethora of Activities & Amenities . . .
. . . await The Sisters.- Snorkeling. [Never been attempted in Little Island Lake to the best of my knowledge, but the crystal clear waters make this a tempting adventure.]
- Kayaking. [Virtually no danger of being attacked by alligators. Maybe mosquitoes.]
- Swimming. [A highlight of our childhood visits to Lynn Haven Resort. Nothing beats watching your little brother & sister turn blue in the arctic waters. *]
- Hiking. [It's about a 4-mile circumnavigation of the lake.]
- Wildlife: Black bears. [Carmen allegedly saw one last summer.] Loons. [MN state bird.] Mosquitoes. [MN state insect. Bring DEET.] Eagles. [There is a nest on the island, & we always see the parents & at least one "young 'un. **] Deer. [Sometimes they show up on the front lawn of the Chalet.] Foxes. [Nathan & I saw a fox at dusk some years ago near my cousin Mike's cabin.] Ticks. [DEET]
- Fishing. [Complimentary bait, tackle, & guide services provided from The Skipper & 1st Mate.]
- Fou-fou coffee. [Cheerfully made fresh each morning by The Skipper & 1st Mate.]
- Excellent food. [Biscuit-&-gravy breakfast casserole. Mmmmm.]
- Road trips. [Options include the Paul Bunyan statue in Akeley & Itasca State Park, where the headwaters of the Mississippi are located.]
- Continental cuisine. [Available at a plethora of restaurants in Park Rapids & vicinity. ****]
- A plethora of shopping available. [There's a Wal-Mart in Park Rapids & a plethora of bait & tackle shops in the area.]
- P.F.C. Zones. *****
* Not to worry. By July the waters should be tepid. Assuming the ice is gone by then.
