Walking in the Truth
Today's scripture: "[Jesus said], "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."Devotional thoughts: We love our freedom. When writing daily devotions for my high school students last year, I was writing to an audience who, for the most part, could hardly wait--or so they thought--to be free from parents, free from high school, free from rules, constraints...I think most of you can relate.
Let's be honest. All of us long for freedom even now. Yet even here in the U.S.A., land of the brave & home of the free, we are not absolutely free to do whatever we want, whenever we want, to whomever we want.
Jesus is not talking about truth that brings about this kind of freedom. He's talking about God's Truth, a MUCH better truth...a truth that can set us free from the power of sin, death, & Satan.
Oh, yes. I believe that there is a devil, and he is alive & well & hard at work among us. The Truth that Jesus Christ died to set us free & rose again from the dead is a guarantee that those who are blessed with this Truth will be free forever.
Prayer thought: Seek the Lord's wisdom as you search the scripture to find His Truth.
