"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will purify * us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:8-9

Devotional thoughts

Here is the Good New--the Gospel--in Jesus Christ.

• We are sinful people. [Wait...that's good news?!]
• We are sinful not just from birth. The Bible teaches that we inherited our parents' original sin from the moment of conception. [Don't take my word for it. SEE Psalm 51:5.]
• We can deny it, make excuses about it, ignore it, but it is what it is. [Good News? Still waiting. . .]
• God is a holy & just God. He cannot & will not accept sin, and He cannot & will not tolerate sinful people. [What Good News?!]

Except through the love of His Son Jesus, who came into the world to be our Savior; who came into the world because He loved sinners! And still loves them today!

We confess our sins knowing that it is by Jesus' work alone that we are able to be forgiven & saved. THAT is God's gift to us through faith, which also comes to us as a gift.

THAT, my dear brothers & sisters, is God's Truth.

Prayer thought  

Confess your sins to Jesus. Ask for His forgiveness. Know without a doubt that He loves you and forgives you. Know this because it's the Truth!
