BEAUTIFUL FEET
Isaiah 52:7 "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring the happy news of peace & salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns." The Living Bible
PARENTS
"Once a parent, always a parent. Fathers & mothers alike, we don't stop caring [for our children] just because we're no longer the main providers of shelter, food & comforts of home . . . It's also our joyful pleasure to care for them, even after they no longer seem to need us." D. Bruce Lockerbie, Men's Devotional Bible
LIFE THOUGHTS
"Physician-assisted suicide prizes autonomy. Abortion prioritizes 'my body, my choice.' But Christlike love 'endures all things' & 'does not insist on its own way' (1 Cor. 13:5, 7). Only this love, which speaks truth, shows hope, & shares joy, can unshackle hearts from the demonic deception of using death as a solution (Luke 4:35). The Gospel love of Him who knows all before any are born (Jer. 1:5) changes minds & saves lives." Grace Lutheran Church bulletin
WORKS & FAITH
"All other works, except faith, we are to direct toward our neighbor. For God demands of us no other work that we should do for Him than only faith in Christ. With that He is satisfied, & with that we give honor to Him, as to one who is gracious, merciful, wise, kind, truthful, & the like. After this think of nothing else than to do to your neighbor as Christ has done to you, & let all your works with all your life be directed to your neighbor . . . But you know that to serve God is nothing else than to serve your neighbor & do good to him in love--whether your neighbor is a child, wife, servant, enemy, friend--without making any difference, whoever needs your help in body or soul, & wherever you can help in temporal or spiritual matters." A Year in the Gospels with Martin Luther I can't help but think that unborn children are included in your "your neighbor is a child." Speaking up for the life of the unborn is certainly seeking after their temporal help.
MARRIAGE
"Christian marriage is based on something far stronger than your name on a seal: your name inscribed on the heart of Christ. Just as you set your spouse's name upon your heart, the Lord has already fixed you upon His heart. You are not alone. You may fear that your love will wear thin, but take comfort. Christ's love does not fail or wear thin, for it is stronger than death & fiercer than the grave." Matthew Richard, Minute Messages
AN EPIPHANY HYMN
I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light (LSB #411)
I want to walk as a child of the light. I want to follow Jesus. God set the stars to give light to the world. The star of my life is Jesus. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night & the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.
I want to see the brightness of God. I want to look at Jesus. Clear Sun of Righteousness, shine on my path, & show me the way to the Father. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night & the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.
I'm looking for the coming of Christ. I want to be with Jesus. When we have run with patience the race, We shall know the joy of Jesus. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night & the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.
