Last FRI 5/31, Lois & I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary. Not a milestone except for longevity, but we still celebrated--by ordering a vegetarian pizza from Pizza Ranch. That's right--still romantic after all these years.

Lois & I started walking every day. Exercise is always suggested as a way to combat depression. Lois was supposed to start walking around Skyview Lake this morning. She'll be joined by one of the teachers from Christ Lutheran School. Unfortunately, it is rainy this morning, so no walks for either of us.

I don't seem to be bothered much by my depression these days. Considering that I'm taking several anti-depression, anti-anxiety medicines, I shouldn't be depressed.

A week from today we'll be taking our grand-children, Brianna (15), Hadley (9), & Bentley (5) "glamping" at Platte River State Park. We always look forward to this annual trip.

Food for Thought

"This cup of coffee has mind-blowing price tag of $75. A CA cafe is brewing up what it calls the world's most expensive coffee--at $75 a cup. Klatch Coffee is serving the exclusive brew, the Elda Natural Geisha 803, at its branches in Southern CA & San Francisco. The 803 in the coffee's name refers to the record-breaking $803 per pound the organic beans sold for at a recent auction after winning the Best of Panama coffee competition . . . The coffee's high quality & limited supply set off a bidding war that determined its astronomical price . . . Klatch describes the coffee as a rare variety of Arabica from Panama that has a floral, tea-like flavor with hints of jasmine & berries. The 10 lbs of beans will produce about 80 cups of coffee." "My body is like an old car. Every time I sneeze, cough, or sputter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires."

New Year's Resolutions

  • Not to read any partisan diatribes re:  the 2020 elections. Only occasionally do I start reading a pundit only to discover partway through the op-ed that I'm reading about the election.
  • Add to our list of National Park visits & cross something off our bucket list. Lord-willing, we'll be visiting Teddy Roosevelt & Glacier National Parks in SEP.
  • Lose 10 lbs. Only 13 lbs to go.
  • Treat Sammy with more patience. So far, so good.
  • Help put up all our Christmas decorations. This will have to wait until NOV.
  • Work out at least 3X per week. I'm still having trouble meeting this goal; maybe that we're walking every day it will be easier to accomplish.
  • Continuing spending an hour or so in "quiet time" every morning. My daily quiet time includes scripture & devotional readings from Jesus Calling, Day by Day in Genesis, Daily Strength for Men, The Word of the Lord Grows.
  • Write a devotional book for the 2019 Orphan Grain Train Convention. The convention is in SEP. I've actually completed 4 possible books, & I need to submit them to Pastor Wilke, our President, & Grant Schmidt, our Vice-President of Operations, & see what they think.
  • Receive a DNA report from Ancestry.com. Considering I mailed my DNA sample on 12/31, you'd think I'd have heard something by now. I think I'll give up on them & maybe look for another source.

Political Potpourri

  • Wouldn't it be nice if the Democrats gave up their crusade against our President & worked for legislation that would be in the best interests of our country?
  • It distresses me to read justification for abortion on Facebook. I've said it before--in all honesty you shouldn't refer to yourself as "pro-choice" when you support abortion rights. The unborn child--who is biologically NOT a part of the woman's body--has no choice. If you claim to be pro-choice, you are pro-abortion.
