Reasons To Feel . . . Up!
From Omaha World Herald (2/3): "Industry doesn't foresee bacon crisis. An insatiable demand for bacon depleted frozen pork belly supplies in the U.S. to a record-low level for DEC, but the pork industry is confident that it can keep up w/demand & avoid any serious shortages. Bottom line: A lb. of bacon may cost a little more as winter wears on, but prices should stabilize by summer . . . " [Money is no object, am I right?]Go Big Red!
From OWH (2/2): "Signing Day. NE coach Mike Riley said the Huskers hit their marks in signing 3 wide receivers & 4 offensive linemen in their 20-man class. The Huskers landed 5 players rated as 4-stars by 247Sports, & 3 of them already are on campus as JAN enrollees . . . BEST IN CLASS Tylon Lindsey, WR, Las Vegas, Riley & receivers coach Keith Williams earned a big victory by getting the 4-star to decommit from Ohio State in mid-JAN. Lindsey's combination of speed & strength make him a great fit for Riley's offense.Ditto (2/3): "The Top 25 of Big 10 Recruits This Signing Day. The Big 10 had a ton of prospects sign w/the 14 league schools on WED. Here are 25 who stood out. It's be easy to fill the list w/just Ohio State & Michigan signees, but we'll include at least one player from each school . . .
- "TYJON LINDSEY, NEBRASKA, 5-9/160, ATH. NE will know what to do w/Lindsey, who will wear #1. He's a mismatch in the slot, he can run the jet sweep & he'll blow by safeties . . .
- "AVERY ROBERTS, NEBRASKA, 6-1/220, LB. Underrated as a mid-level 4-star, Roberts makes plays behind the line of scrimmage & shows off great instincts . . . " [These excerpts need no comments.]
Reasons to Feel . . . Down *
I continue to feel discouraged that so many college-educated elites [It's the word THEY use to describe themselves, after all.] continue to refuse to use their rational brain skills to discern what's going on in politics these days . . . & I continue to resent having to do their homework for them. I am also very, very sad, that so many continue to believe the blatant propaganda distributed by possibly the most evil foe of women AND unborn babies today, accompanied by their cohorts in the drive-by media. Yes, that would be Planned Parenthood. [A more apt name--certainly a more honest name--would be Planned Infanticide.]However, not that long ago I also wrote that I had an epiphany. God did not appoint me the apostle to those whom I disagree with politically. We'll see how long I can hold out. * Snark alert
Bracing for + Racing toward Retirement
From Norfolk Daily News (2/1): "New authors sought for online serial novel. Calling all local & area authors--the Daily News has an opportunity for you. Over the past several years, the Daily News has featured 4 online serialization of novels that were available at the newspaper's website. Each week, a new chapter has been posted online to allow online users at norfolkdailynews.com to enjoy the author's work. The current book still have several chapters yet to be posted."But what comes next? That's where authors from Northeast & North Central Nebraska--or individuals w/ties to this corner of the state--can come into play. The Daily News will accept submissions from authors of completed, family-friendly books for consideration as the next book to be featured on the newspaper website . . . "
PROs
- I already have an "in" w/the Daily News. My blog is available on the NDN website.
- I'm an "e-published" author.
- I've always wanted to write a novel. In act, over the years I've written [Well, "written" might be a tad bit too euphemistic.] a few mental novels.
CONs
- Technically, I've never written an actual novel, so . . .
- I don't have a novel ready to submit at this time.
